Lung Cancer Stages
If you are diagnosed with lung cancer, your doctor will tell you what stage it is. This means how far the cancer has grown in your body.
It is important to know what stage of cancer you have to plan the best treatment specifically for you.
Here are the stages for lung cancer:
Occult stage
Your cancer is in your mucus but not in your imaging tests or tissue samples.
Stage I
Your cancer is in your lung tissue, but not lymph nodes.
Stage II
Your cancer is in your lung tissue and lymph nodes, close to your lungs.
Stage III
Your cancer is in your lung tissue and lymph nodes, in your chest area.
Stage IV
Your cancer has spread to other organs and bones in your body.
If your lung cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, you will usually have a better outcome.
